Solution:
This article will explain which data attributes are being used to create the values found for the aging periods in the Inventory Cost by Days Since Last Activity field from the Inventory Aggregate report.
This report may be accessed from the Print menu by selecting Status Reports and clicking Aggregate Summary.
The Inventory Aggregate report displays the retail value, cost, gross margin, and gross margin percentage of the on-hand inventory. It also displays the present on-hand value (cost) of the inventory compared to the last sale date.
The on-hand value may also be compared to the last receipt date if there has never been a sale for that particular item. The last sale date is defined by the date an item was last invoiced or shipped (partially or fully). This date is stored in the Last Sale field on the Item Master Maintenance screen, under the General tab. It can also be accessed via the Data Center in ICITEM.Llsale.
The generated Inventory report can be based on all inventory items or may be filtered by a single item per location. The following examples use single items.
Example One
Single Item for a Single Location
Item X presently has an on-hand value of $10,000. The last sale date was 75 days ago and the last receipt date was 90 days ago. This will create an entry of $10,000.00 into the Over 60 days aging group. This is due to the fact that the last sale date is used to define the aging category; not last receipt date.
Example Two
Single Item for a Single Location
Item X presently has an on-hand value of $10,000 and has never been sold; the last receipt date was 10 days ago. This will create an entry of $10,000 into the Current Inventory aging category.
Example Three
Single Item for a Single Location
Item X was last sold 95 days ago and had an on-hand value of $10,000, at that time. This item was purchased 12 days ago, for a value of $5,000. If this report is generated today, an entry of $15,000 will be found into the Over 90 days aging category. As mentioned above, the last sale date is used to define the aging category.
Example Four
Single Item in Two Locations
Item X has an on-hand value of $10,000 at location ZZZ. The last sale date was 75 days ago and the last receipt date was 90 days ago. A new location (YYY) is created which has a last receipt date of 3 days ago and there have been no sales. The current on-hand on-hand value is $5,000. This report will create an entry of $10,000 into the Over 60 days aging group. The last sale date in location ZZZ is used to define the aging category; not the last receipt date. There will also be a second entry into the Current Inventory aging category of $5,000. This represents the on-hand value in location YYY as defined by the last receipt date. There must be multiple locations to generate entries into multiple aging categories for a single item.
Important
Another method to allow multiple entries when filtering on a single item is if the item name chosen is the root of other item names. For example in Company 99, “Mouse” is the chosen item name. It will filter out all items except “Mouse” and “Mousesrl,” leaving entries in two aging categories.
