Issue
The following message appears while importing postings into General Ledger:
Error detected in External File XXGLTRNN.XLS. Invalid or empty date entries found. This file will not be processed.
*XX refers to the two-letter code for the external application and NN refers to the company
number
In versions of Sage Pro ERP 7.3B and below, postings can be made to the prior, current or future year. This message appears when any record in the external posting file is not within in this three-year window.
Solution or Workaround
These dates are stored in the Begin (third column of the external posting file) and End (fourth column of the external posting file) columns. In later versions of Sage Pro, verify that the year exists for that company in the fiscal calendar.
Important
Data edits should only be done by a Sage Certified Consultant or Business Partner. Create a full and verified backup before proceeding. This should first be attempted in a test installation and the results should be fully verified before implementing in a live system.
To correct this issue, edit the values in the Begin or End columns to reflect the correct dates for the record. Save the changes and re-import the external posting file.
Also, verify whether the periods are not locked or not permanently locked.
