Questions and Answers
Q: When installing or converting to Sage Pro ERP using Microsoft SQL it is possible to never receive the prompt to convert to the SQL version. The results in the Microsoft Visual FoxPro version being installed.
If the installation or conversion did not prompt to install the Microsoft SQL version, the following message will appear when selecting the option in System Manager to Convert to SQL then selecting Convert Companies.
This feature is not available for an installation currently using FoxPro database. It is only available for an installation already setup to use SQL 2000 database.
Note: The option to Convert Companies can only be used if the conversion to the SQL version has been done and not all companies were converted at that time.
A: There are three possible causes for the prompt for SQL conversion not to appear:
© Copyright Sage Software
- The activation code being used does not include Pro SQL Manager. To see if this is the case, try a new installation and choose the option for Custom Install. This will give a list of modules and options that will be installed with the activation code entered. Make sure there is an option for Pro SQL Manager. If there is not, the activation code is for Visual FoxPro only.
- The activation code includes Pro SQL Manager but it was not selected. Make sure this option is selected during the Custom Install process.
- The conversion process will prompt to update from Data Dictionary for all companies. If this is do not done at this time, the conversion process will not proceed with the prompt for SQL conversion.
If this scenario is encountered, a new installation/conversion will have to be performed over the existing installation to complete the SQL conversion.
