“Blank location not allowed” Error Message Appears When Saving a Sales Order

Issue

When attempting to save line items in a sales order, the following message may appear:

Blank location not allowed

As a result, the order does not save. Analysis of the ICILOC and ICIQTY tables reveals that the Loctid field is blank. Populating this field with the correct warehouse location does not resolve this issue.

Special Considerations or Warnings

None.

Solution or Workaround

This issue usually occurs after a conversion and is the result of a corrupted SYSDATA record. It is also usually seen in a single-location company.

Important
The following should only be done by a Sage Certified Consultant or Business Partner. Create a full and verified backup before proceeding. This should first be attempted in a test installation and the results should be fully verified before implementing in a live system.

The following steps may help to correct this problem.

  1. Open the SYSDATA table.
  2. Locate the Inventory Control (IC) record for the affected company.
  3. If it is blank, populate the Str1 field with the default warehouse location specified in Sage Pro ERP: “WH1” or “ONSITE.”Important
The value entered into this field must be entered into the very first character field.
  4. If it is blank, populate the Str2 field for the same record with “DROP.”Important
If this field is blank, please refer to Knowledgebase article 22271 before proceeding to populate this field.
  5. If it is blank, populate the Str 7 field with “Location Loct StoreBin”Important
The value entered into this field must be entered into the very first character field and must be entered in exactly as shown in the image. It must have one white space before and after the “Loct” value.

The blank value in the Str1 field is the main cause of this error. The system looks at this field in SYSDATA for the default warehouse location. Without a record the program will not allow an item to be saved to a sales order or received into and issued out of the warehouse.
