4 Decimals for Standard Entry May Create an Out of Balance Batch

Issue

When entering a standard balance GL batch there are 4 decimal places for entering dollar amounts for debits and credits. If the user types wrong it could cause an out of balance condition that cannot be corrected since any other screen only has 2 decimal places.

Solution or Workaround

Void the out of balance unposted batch and reenter.
PTR 91667 has been entered and is being reviewed.

Cause

Steps to Duplicate

1. GL – Maintain – Automatic Entries – Standard Entries
2. Create a new standard code – Type = Dollar
3. Enter accounts but leave dollar amounts for debit and credit at 0.00 and save
4. Transaction – Create Journal Batch – Batch Type = Normal – Control Total = 100.11
5. Enter through until you can change the Entry Type from Manual to Standard
6. Enter the new Standard Entry Code you created and click on OK.
Notice the next screen has 4 decimal places in the entry grid
7. Enter the debit for 100.1111 and the credit for 100.11 and click on OK
8. The next screen looks correct since it is in 2 decimal places. Click on the Save icon. You will get a message:
Transaction is out of balance by $0.00. Click on OK
Click on Batch Done. A screen will come up where you can edit the batch total but there is no way to correct the out of balance. The only option is to Edit Unposted Batches and void the batch.
