Export Specific Modules of a Company

Solution:

This article explains how toexport or import only certain modules of a company. This may be necessary due to size limitations or privacy concerns.

Important
The following should only be done by a Sage Certified Consultant or Business Partner. Create a full and verified backup before proceeding. This should first be attempted in a test installation and the results should be fully verified before implementing in a live system.

To export or import certain modules for a company, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the SYCDATA table.
  2. Navigate to the record for the module that is not to be exported or imported.
  3. Mark this record for deletion.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each module that is not to be exported or imported.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Execute the normal export or import process. The marked modules will not be included in
    this process.

Important
These steps apply only to Microsoft Visual FoxPro (VFP) installations; they do not apply to Microsoft SQL Server installations. Records in SQL tables cannot be marked for deletion as in VFP. A SQL company must first be exported in VFP format. The records can then be marked for deletion as mentioned above. Once this is complete, the data can be imported back into the installation as a SQL database and the export and import process can continue.
