This knowledgebase article explains why importing payroll postings may result in the error message:

Error 1976: Cannot resolve back link call from PRXPST” after conversion to ACCPAC Pro Series 7.3 from prior version.  It used to work before converting to the new product.

Solution or Workaround

The structure of the external posting file for Sage Pro Payroll is different from prior versions of ACCPAC Pro Series.  If attempt to use old file formats in Sage Pro this error may occur.

To ensure the external posting file was created correctly you may want to use the following:

  1. Make a full backup of the Pro Series Directory.
  2. You must create an external posting file that is Visual FoxPro Compatible named PRXPSTnn.DBF (where “nn” is the appropriate company number) in the External folder of your ACCPAC Pro Series root directory (for example, C:\Pro73\External). PRXPSTnn.DBF will be the input file.
  3. To ensure this table is the correct format, copy the PRXPSTnn.DBF, PRXPST99.CDX, and PRXPST99.FPT files that are automatically installed in the External folder (during the ACCPAC Pro Series installation). Rename these copies them to the appropriate company number, as described above.  If these files are not in the External file you may need to do a new install of ACCPAC Pro Series in another location then copy the files to the live installation.

Important note:

The structure of the external posting file for ACCPAC Pro Series Payroll is different from prior versions of ACCPAC Pro Series. If using a custom program that creates this file, the program will be modify to accommodate the structural changes.  For more information on the structural changes, please refer to PRXPST in the Sage Pro Payroll Technical Reference Guide.
