When installing Sage Pro ERP it is recommended to install from a workstation to the server to insure correct directory pathing. As a result of this process, the workstation from which the installation is done will have Sage Pro listed in the Add/Remove program listed in the Control Panel of Microsoft Windows.

If a user accidentally removes Sage Pro from this workstation from the Add/Remove Programs list, it will remove the programs it will remove all Sage Pro program files from the server installation. This article will explain how to limit access to uninstall Sage Pro by unauthorized users.

To limit access to uninstall Sage Pro through the Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel of Microsoft Windows use the suggestions provided below.

  • Install Sage Pro on a trusted administrator’s workstation rather than from a regular employee’s workstation. Administrators should be informed as to the implications of uninstalling Sage Pro from this workstation.
  • Rename the Uninst.isu file found in the root directory of the Sage Pro installation folder. This will completely avoid the possibility of a user uninstalling Sage Pro.
