“No valid industry exists.” Message Appears When Exporting the Customer File

Issue

When creating a new company in Customer Connect (CC) and select to export it as a customer file, the following error message appears:
“No valid industry exists.”

Solution or Workaround

This issue occurs when Rules are activated for CC module but they have not correctly defined the INDUSTRY rule. In order to resolve this issue, either the Rules must be turned off for CC or the INDUSTRY Rule must be defined correctly. In order to turn off Rules for CC, follow the steps below:

  1. Logon to Sage Pro ERP.
  2. Open System Manager (SM).
  3. Under the Maintain menu, point to  Companies and click Companies.
  4. Select the appropriate company.
  5. Click Appls.
  6. Type “CC” into the Application ID field.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Deselect  Use Rule Tables.
  9. Save changes and exit the screen.

In order to add a value to the INDUSTRY Rule, follow the steps below:

  1. Logon to Sage Pro ERP.
  2. Open SM.
  3. Under the Maintain menu, point to Companies and click Rules.
  4. Select the appropriate company.
  5. Type “INDUSTRY” into the Rule ID field.
  6. Click Add if this rule does not exist.
  7. Click Values.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Type a valid value into the Valid Entry and Description fields.
  10. Save changes and exit the screen.

Either of these solutions should resolve this issue.
