Issue
Examples of program or data issues resulting from manually changing the ODBC data source settings for Sage Pro ERP using Microsoft SQL are the following:
- Voiding a payable will result in an out-of-balance posting.
- Cannot view transaction details within Sage Pro, however database tables do contain this information.
Solution or Workaround
It is strongly recommended that no settings be changed for the ODBC Data Source created automatically for a Sage Pro installation. Doing so may result in a wide variety of serious program issues and is not supported by Sage Customer Support. To restore the ODBC Settings refer to the steps provided below.
- In the Microsoft Windows operating system open the Control Panel.
- Double-click Administrative Toolsicon.
- Double-click Data Sources (ODBC). he ODBC Data Source Administrator screen will appear.
- Select the Sage Pro Data Source from the User Data Source list. Refer to Figure 1.0 for details. Note, that the Data Source name may vary from Figure 1.0 depending on what data source name was assigned.

- Click Configure.
- Click Next, verify that the following settings have been selected:
- With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user.
- Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options.
- Refer to Figure 2.0 for details.

- Enter the appropriate login and password.
- Click Next.
- Verify that the following settings are selected:
- Change the default database to
- Use ANSI quoted identifiers
- Use ANSI nulls, paddings and warnings
- Refer to Figure 3.0 for details.

- Verify that the following setting has been selected:
- Perform translation for character data.
