Issue
In many modules that has the option to select the Warehouse Location, the picklist may not work.
For example:
Trying to add a new location for a new or existing item. But in the Item at Location Maintenance screen there is a default value already populated in the Location field and the Save button at the top, right-hand corner is inactive. Then select the pick list next to the Location field and nothing happens; the mouse cursor may only flash. Also, if trying to highlight the field and enter in a new location, nothing happens.
A similar issue may occur with the phone number for customers and vendors. When bringing up the Customer or Vendor Maintenance screens, the Phone number field is already populated with a number. When a customer or a vendor has been selected and trys to edit the Phone field, they are only able to change the first number of the phone number. The phone number stays exactly the same. Except for the first number of the phone number, it cannot be changed and overwritten.
Solution or Workaround
These issues are caused by inadvertantly entering in a distinct value in an Input Mask (Format) field. The steps below describe how to correct these two problems.
Location picklist:
1. In the Inventory Control (IC) module for the company that is having this problem, select File from the menu then Change Setup Information.
2. In the Setup screen save the current settings until you are in the Multi-Location settings tab.
3. In the “Entry Format for Location ID” make sure the input mask setting is set to “!!!!!!“, not an actual value like “WHSE”.
4. Enter in “!!!!!!” in the “Entry Format for Location ID” field.
5. Click Save.
6. This will correct the picklist issue for Warehouse Locations.
Phone number field in the Customer or Vendor Maintenance screen:
1. In the System Manager (SM) module, select Maintain from the menu, then Companies and Companies again.
2. Select the company that is having the phone number issue.
3. Select the Edit button. Make sure the “Phone Number Template” field is set to “!##/###-####
####” and not an actual number like !604-555-5452.
4. Change the “Phone Number Template” field to “!##/###-#### ####”
5. Save the setting. This will correct the phone number issue.
