What are Merchant IDs and Merchant Licenses in Credit Card Setup?

Questions and Answers

Q: This article explains what a Merchant ID is and clarifies how many merchant ID licenses are needed if more than one credit card processor is required.

A: The Merchant ID is a code that allows the PCCharge software to process credit card transactions through the credit card processor company. The length of this code depends on the processor. For example, Merchant IDs for Card Services International (CSI) are 12 character codes. This Merchant ID is used to set up the merchant account in the PCCharge software.

Important
The Merchant ID is specific to the credit card processing company and every processor requires its own. VeriPhone, makers of PCCharge, usually provide the Merchant IDs assigned by CSI. An additional Merchant account must be set up in PCCharge for each additional Merchant ID.

The Credit Card Add-on option comes with one merchant and one user license for processing credit cards in Sage Pro ERP. Additional merchant licenses may be purchased from Sage for any additional Merchant IDs.

Important
In Sage Pro, the Merchant IDs must be manually selected when processing a credit card transaction; however, a default Merchant IDs can be defined. For additional information on setting up the Merchant IDs in PCCharge.
