What Does the Convert to SQL Feature do?

Questions and Answers

Q:  This article clarifies the purpose and function of the Convert to SQL feature.

A: The Convert to SQL feature was added to Sage Pro ERP 7.0 with the introduction of the Microsoft SQL Server (SQL) database. It can be accessed in System Manager from the Transaction menu only if the SQL database is installed. When converting a Sage Pro installation from a Microsoft Visual FoxPro (VFP) database to SQL, all companies do not need to be immediately converted to SQL during the conversion process. This feature was added to the product to allow conversion of non-essential companies at a later date.

Important

If a company is not converted to SQL during the conversion process, it will not be available for use in Sage Pro Series. It will be kept in VFP format until converted using the Convert to SQL feature. This feature can only be used if there are VFP companies remaining for conversion.

This feature cannot be used to convert VFP companies from another installation of Sage Pro; this is not an import process. However, the import and export functions may be used to import VFP companies into a SQL installation.
