Q: There may be a long delay for the InstallShield to complete during installation of Sage Pro ERP. Specifically, the percent complete bar may pause at 99 percent for several minutes before proceeding with the installation. It may appear the installation has stopped but in most cases it is just slow to complete.
A: The general cause has been isolated to antivirus software affecting the InstallShield portion of the installation. Installshield (not associated with Sage ACCPAC) has published knowledgebase article Q102872 that offers several solutions to resolve this issue; the article can be located at http://support.installshield.com. Although this article is specific to McAfee antivirus software, Sage Customer Support has found the same issue occurring with other antivirus software.
According to this article, changing the antivirus settings may increase the speed of this process. It has been reported that temporarily removing the Sage Pro installation folder from the virus scan may increase performance.
Important Any changes to antivirus software settings should only be done after consulting with local network administrators to evaluate the risks of such actions.
If antivirus software is not causing the issue, review other programs that may be running on the workstation as they may also cause delays. Programs or process that has been known to conflict with InstallShield, but not limited to are listed below:
- Copernic Desktop Search Engine
- Microsoft IIS
- Sage CRM Indexer Service
- UPS software
